Yes. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, every food business operator in India must hold a valid FSSAI registration or licence, regardless of size — including home-based businesses.
Which type of licence do I need?
It depends on annual turnover: Basic Registration (up to ₹12 lakh), State License (₹12 lakh–₹20 crore) and Central License (above ₹20 crore, or import/export and multi-state operations).
How long does it take?

How long is a licence valid?
